Plaid like a Grand-dad

Posted by in Clothing, Product Review

My sister texted me last week about a plaid hoodie at L.L. Bean. I almost threw my phone across the room in pure excitement. Not only do I absolutely love plaid, but a hoodie?! Hello-Goodnight! When I am traveling alone I ditch the scarf and pull up my hoodies. They make it so I am modest and yet they don’t attract attention. (Well not much anyway.) L.L. Bean is a favorite in our family and we regularly travel to Maine to go to the store. Needless to say, I ordered…read more

Allbirds

As I said in yesterday’s post about my boots, I had to replace/get rid of almost all my old shoes. Limping around everywhere wasn’t a great look. My Hiking Boots

Finding the right hiking boots has been a bit of a drama. Last year, I developed an issue with my foot that was diagnosed as a Morton’s neuroma in my right foot. Last night I decided to brave the outdoors… but this time with KIDS! DUN DUN DAAAAAAA! Last year I went to Cooper Lake State Park with a few friends to watch the Perseid Meteor Shower. And it was a highlight of my year and really kickstarted my need to be more adventurous in my life. This time I thought I would share that passion with a few kids I taught last year in my woodworking class. It honestly started with me telling one of my friends and snowballed from there….read more

The Adventures of Coco and the Danger Noodle

Posted by in Hiking

Today, my friends and I decided to go on a hike. I was somewhat worried… because it would be Coco’s first hiking expedition. We met up around 4pm at Rockledge Park in Grapevine, Texas. It was a truly glorious day. The wind was high and the sky was bright blue. It was really¬†spectacular. The park borders Grapevine Lake and happens to be 10 min away from where I live. Once my friends got there we started out. The trail has been eroded due to the amount of flooding we have…read more
